Steps to Retrieve Files From USB Drive Detected But Not Accessible

Step 1 – Download and install Photo Recovery and launch it on your PC. Now connect your external storage devices such as memory card, USB drive, hard drive or digital camera. Once, connected, now on your PC click on “Recover Photo, Audio & Video” to start recovery process.


Step 2 - Select the drive from which you want to recover files and then click on “Scan Now” to begin the scanning process.

When Pen Drive Detected But Not Showing in My Computer

In such cases, you have first check whether it appears in Disk Management or not.
In order to open Disk Management, simply press Windows+R key to open Run box. Next type diskmgmt.msc and tap OK.

If USB Drive Appears in Disk Management

It means that your USB flash drive is corrupt or has errors. In such situation also you must try Photo Recovery tool to recover data from corrupt USB drive and then format the drive for re-use.

If USB Drive Does Not Appears in Disk Management

Open Device Manager and see if it is listed there or not. If listed, then try to update the USB driver to check if it fix the problem.

Here how to do that:

  • Click "device manager" on the left task bar > Next to "USB controller", click "+".Then you’ll see a yellow exclamation mark.
