How to recover data from corrupt SD card?


SD card is basically a small chip to store digital data. The most important aspect of this card is that though it is small in size, but it is capable of storing large amount of data up to 64 GB. It is compatible with all the electronic gadgets that are available in the market. You can store images, videos and other important documents in it. As these are electronic gadgets, so they are bound to become corrupt or damaged. So how can you know that SD card has become corrupt? If you are unable to access the photos and videos that are saved in your SD card or your SD card is not displayed on your system screen. If these are the scenarios that you are facing, then the card has become corrupt or damaged. 

Scenarios responsible for corruption of SD card: It has been seen that the card generally becomes corrupt, if it is used in multiple devices. It should be used on limited number of devices. If the card has been infected by malicious malware, then all the data in it becomes corrupt and it becomes inaccessible.

What should be done to recover data from corrupt SD card?

There are various ways by which you can recover the data from the corrupt SD card. For this you have to stop using this card, till all the data are recovered, because if you continue to use it, then the new data would overlap the older data then it would become difficult to recover them. And at the same time, you should not format your card. Try to connect the card to your computer, if it is getting detected then recover all the data using the chkdsk command. The syntax for this command is chkdsk [drive:][/p][/r]. For example: chkdsk [C:][/p][/r]. It would recover all the data that is in the C drive. In this way you can recover the data from it.

If you are unable to recover the data using chkdsk, then you can recover it with the help of Rescue Digital Media Software. It scans the entire card and recovers all the data. Once it is recovered you can save and make a backup of them. In this way you can recover the data from the corrupt SD card.
