DCIM is a folder where the photographs that are clicked by digital camera including Smartphone camera are stored. You may be thinking that why all the photos are saved in this folder? As the name DCIM stand for digital Camera Images. So, after knowing the full form you would be able to identify the reasons behind saving all the images in that particular folder.  When you insert the memory card or SD card in the camera, it would immediately search for ‘DCIM' folder. If it is unable to find this folder, then it would create a fresh DCIM folder, same is the case with Smartphone as well.
